Now in its 244th year, the Royal Academy of Art's Summer Exhibition remains the world's largest open submission art show featuring artists both established and emerging, working in a variety of media. The venue has always been a draw for the event industry, offering a chance to enjoy the spaces of the galleries and the artwork therein, but during the Summer Exhibition (which runs from the 4th June to the 12th August this year) the Royal Academy is always particularly popular with the events crowd, giving guests an opportunity to get an afterhours look at the works in one of London's most eagerly anticipated exhibitions.
For a recent corporate event at the Royal Academy, we provided our elegant violin duo 'Wing' who performed in the main gallery for guests during the drinks reception. A sleek, sophisticated alternative to the traditional String Quartet, Wing features two of our violinists performing on either acoustic or electric instruments whilst moving around the venue - adding a visual element to the classical background music.
Wing works particularly well at events where guests are split between different rooms, giving the performers the chance to move between different spaces within the venue or stop and perform at certain points - this is especially effective at a venue like the Royal Academy where guests tend to want to explore the space and take in the works on display.
