Wedding Wednesday - Five Musical Acts with a Difference

September 14, 2016

If you're looking to book a wedding band, most of the options available to you will be pop and rock function bands, ranging from a four-piece right through to a large ensemble that offer all the classic hits of yesteryear (as well as a few modern tracks you'll surely recognise). But what if that's not what you're after? What if you'd like your wedding band to be unique, a bit different? Here are five for you to consider.

The Hill Valley Joes

With a name inspired by Back to the Future (Hill Valley was the town featured in the film), you might have an inkling of what to expect with The Hill Valley Joes. That's right, they will play all of the pop and rock classics you normally get, but with a brilliant Americana twang. With that bluegrass and country sound, songs by artists including Jeff Buckley and Pharrell sound nothing like you might expect and they're great fun for all ages to enjoy.

London Contemporary Voices

And now for something completely different! London Contemporary Voices are a huge vocal choir that perform songs with an a cappella style and can even provide a beat boxer if required. With their own arrangements, songs that you know and love sound vibrant, fresh and revitalised! With a lineup that can go from 8 singers right through to 100, this is a stunning ensemble act that has worked with artists including Imogen Heap, Sam Smith and Joss Stone. Not to be overlooked!

Emily and James

For those interested in musical theatre then Emily and James might just be the perfect act for you to book on your wedding day. With James on piano and Emily singing, the duo can perform a number of classic songs from opera right through to your favourite musicals! Available as background music or a full recital, not only will the music astound you but so will the occasional slice of comedy in the songs. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

Doolally Tap

Performing a heady hot jazz mix of rambunctious rags, swinging blues and gorgeous melodies from the 1920s, Doolally Tap’s infectious energy and outstanding musicianship are an amazing choice for a wedding. Known to perform both inside and out and even when on the go, their live performances are renowned in events circles and to have them booked for your special day would be a job well done!

Beato Burrito

A Mexican themed acoustic act? Yup. You might not think this is an obvious choice for a wedding band but Beato Burrito are incredibly popular wherever they go. Playing your favourite tracks in a Mariachi style, the band will win over even the most cynical wedding guest with their humour and energy. Not ones to break character, they are a memorable and engaging act to have on your wedding day and reached the final of our Beat the Brief competition last year. Unforgettable entertainment!
