Top 5: Wedding Bands

March 13, 2013

On Monday, we shared our Top 5 Acoustic Bands for events and weddings where a full band isn’t really an option, but today we’re putting the focus back on to fully amplified bands – more specifically wedding bands. When it comes to weddings, a function band’s role is crucial to the day, not only performing the music for wedding guests to dance to – but also providing the backing for that all-important first dance.

To give just a sample of the kinds of bands we can supply for a wedding or civil ceremony, we’ve put together our Top 5 Wedding Bands with examples of each group in action – take a look below.

Flood the Floor

5 Piece party band Flood the Floor specialise in doing exactly what their name suggests – packing the dance floor with eager foot-shufflers. Boasting a collective stage presence that most bands would give an arm and a leg for (usually the bassists arm and leg) the band are perfect for when you want your wedding guests up and dancing.

Lead by the semi-eponymous Belle, Bellissima are a stylish function band that have been wowing crowds at high profile events all over the world for over half a decade.  Like most of the bands on our books, they’re able to swell up to 10 members, adding horns and backing vocalists. But even as a compact four-piece, the band electrify audiences with unparalleled musicianship.

Earthlights Boogie Band

Sporting a line-up of musicians who’ve played with some of the biggest names in the music industry (Barry White, Tom Jones, Lenny Kravitz, Jamiroquai and more) Earthlights Boogie Band have picked up a few tips when it comes to putting on a show, the band have even been known to come down from the stage and show off their moves on the dancefloor.

Hand Fulla Soul

Specialists in Soul, Motown, Pop and Disco, function band Hand Fulla Soul are comprised of some of the finest graduates of London’s most prestigious music schools. Usually performing as a 5 – 7 piece band, the group’s multiple vocalists and huge pool of talented musicians means they’re highly customisable and have a repertoire large enough to please even the pickiest of guests.

Kevin Fitzsimmons Band

No line-up of wedding bands would be complete without a classic crooner, and crooners don’t come much more classic than Kevin whose velvety smooth voice and old school charisma have made him one of the most successful Rat Pack singers in the UK. Supported by his troupe of seasoned backing musicians, Kevin and his band create the effortless cool of 50s and 60s swing.
