Top Opera Arias for a Corporate Event

August 13, 2018

Are you looking to add a touch of class to your event? Want to match your glamorous venue with some equally glamorous entertainment? Booking opera is for your event is the perfect way to dazzle your guests and make your event truly memorable!

Not so hot on your arias and stuck on what songs to request? Fear not – most singers will have a repertoire list of commonly requested favourites. But as a starting point, here are our top picks for the best opera arias for your event.

If you’re after the high dulcet tones of a soprano singer, we’ve got you covered. Top of the list is O Mio Babbino Caro, a heartfelt love aria from Puccini’s opera Gianni Schicchi. This is a sure crowd-pleaser and not too melodramatic! For something slightly darker, Casta Diva, from Bellini’s Norma, was the signature tune of opera’s ultimate diva, Maria Callas, and features dark brooding depths and some dazzling high notes. Or, if high drama and intensity is what you’re after, a tragic aria will strike the right note - two Puccini favourites are Un bel dì vedremo (Madama Butterfly) and Vissi d’arte (Tosca). These dramatic arias reach sensational climaxes and will be guaranteed tear-jerkers. Looking for something lighter? Opera isn’t all doom and gloom! Go for Quando M’en Vo, a playful flirtatious aria from Puccini’s La Bohème, or the deliciously seductive Habanera from Bizet’s opera Carmen.

If you’d prefer a tenor singer for your event, there are plenty of great arias that will leave you spoiled for choice! Probably the most famous opera aria in the world, Puccini’s romantic show-stopper Nessun Dorma is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Two more Puccini choices are E Lucevan Le Stelle (Tosca) and Che Gelida Manina (La Bohème): think soaring melodies and passionate climaxes! If you’re after some cheesy Neapolitan charm, try O Sole Mio by Eduardo di Capua!

Want to increase the wow factor? Consider booking an opera duo. Double the drama, double the excitement! If you’re after that classic ‘love duet’, you can’t get much better than O Soave Fanciulla from La Bohème! Reaching soaring heights, this aria is a soprano and tenor match made in heaven. For a lively mood, Libiamo from Verdi’s La Traviata is a drinking song, so a perfect choice to get your guests to relax and enjoy that extra glass of wine. For an all-male duo, request the world-famous Pearl Fishers’ Duet, and for a female duo, nothing could be more recognisable than the Flower Duet by Delibes (aka ‘theme tune’ of British Airways!).

Setlist sorted, the only thing to do is grab a glass of wine, sit back, and enjoy some very stylish entertainment at your event!
