One of London’s key appeals to tourists and locals alike is the city’s embarrassment of riches in the theatre department; musicals in particular continue to be a huge draw to crowds seeking everything from nostalgic thrills to classic shows. With Les Miserables the latest show to make the jump from stage to screen, interest in West End stage productions has never been greater and that’s something that’s come across in corporate events as well.
With countless events planners and destination management companies looking to entertain guests in our nation’s capital, a night at the theatre is often a brilliant way to give people a taste of what London has to offer. But the thrill of a West End show is something that can be incorporated into events too, and thanks to our endlessly talented pool of stage performers, we’re able to put on some amazing tributes to beloved West End Musicals.
Take a look below for 5 of our favourites.
One of the best examples of the ever popular ‘Jukebox Musicals’ Jersey Boys celebrates the life and music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons with songs like Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like a Man, and Sherry making up just part of a show that spans decades. One of the benefits of being based around a 4 piece band is that Jersey Boys easily translates to a smaller stage for intimate corporate events or private functions.

Another Jukebox Musical that takes a different tact with its story, Mamma Mia sets the music of ABBA to a story that has nothing to do with the group’s career. The film adaptation from 2008 remains the highest grossing movie musical of all time. Such is the popularity of ABBA, most of the audience are usually familiar with the music, so all that’s left is to recreate the gleeful energy of the musical on stage. Sadly no Bronhom in our version.

Our most recent event blog shows off the dancier side of the West End with this recreation of the recreation of the 1935 classic screwball comedy starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Performing iconic dance routines to tunes like Top Hat, White Tie and Tails and Cheek to Cheek, this stripped back version of the West End hit is perfect after dinner entertainment for corporate events.

We Will Rock You
The theatrical, outlandish and often ridiculous music of Queen seemed custom made for the stage rather than dingy rock clubs, so when Ben Elton turned the band’s catalogue of hits into a Jukebox Musical in the early 00s it seemed like it probably should have happened years before. Stripped of the (legitimately bugnuts crazy) plot, the songs from We Will Rock You lose none of their operatic appeal and with a large ensemble can make for show stopping cabaret sets at events.
The Sound of Music
Not every musical can claim to have inspired the kind of rabid devotion that leads fans to dress up as nuns and recite passages of the script from memory, but not every musical is The Sound of Music which after 50 years on the stage is still drawing in crowds from sheer force of habit (Get it?) Our take on the West End sensation strips out the Nazis and Nuns and concentrates on the music (and lederhosen) featuring songs such as "Edelweiss", "My Favorite Things", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" and "Do-Re-Mi".
