Wedding Venue Spotlight: South Lodge Hotel

October 15, 2011

Although we’re based in London and most of our events take place within the confines of the city, it is important to know that our acts will travel anywhere and everywhere. This is especially important for weddings; as venues in the countryside are hugely desirable locations for couples to tie the knot and, of course just as much fun for our acts to play at.

The South Lodge Hotel is a perfect example; a beautiful country house hotel in West Sussex, the venue lends itself perfectly to summer weddings, particularly because they are now able to hold outdoor ceremonies with a breathtaking view of the South Downs as a back drop. The hotel itself is set in 93 acres of stunning woodland with beautiful oak trees and unique flowers scattered amongst the carefully preserved lawns so a drinks reception outside on a balmy afternoon is ideal.

In Summer, the South Lodge Hotel is a fantastic venue for outdoor wedding ceremonies and receptions

Inside, the hotel has the comforting feel of an intimate country house whilst retaining the grandeur of a stately home. Whereas in the winter, when the fires are lit and the snow is falling, the hotel offers an invitingly cosy refuge from the cold.

The Glyndebourne and Goodwood Rooms are ideal for ceremonies and can hold up to 70 and 50 guests respectively. It’s a venue we’ve had the pleasure to provide entertainment for weddings at South Lodge in the past and we’re more than familiar with the ins and outs of the venue.  For background music during the ceremony, we’ve provided our beautiful Corelli Quartet and for receptions the Andy Davies Jazz Trio have always been well received, led by the talented trumpet player Andy, who has a residency at the world famous Ronnie Scotts.

The Gladstone Room at the South Lodge Hotel

The Wordsworth and Gladstone Rooms are perfect for reception parties, both of which can hold up to 180 guests for dancing. In an upcoming wedding we’re providing our fantastic rat pack singer, Kevin Fitzsimmons with his 3 piece band who will be performing during and after dinner, accompanying the couple for their momentous first dance.

For soon-to-be brides considering the venue for upcoming weddings, be sure to check out the South Lodge Hotel’s Wedding Open Evening next week. The event is taking place at the South Lodge Hotel on Monday 17th October between 18:00-20:30.
