With London’s time in the international spotlight drawing to a close with the Olympic closing ceremony on Sunday – it was the turn of Brazil and more specifically Rio de Janeiro to entertain the world as the Olympic flame was handed over to the 2016 hosts. To celebrate the handover (and the end of a very busy Olympics) one of our clients had arranged an evening of Brazilian themed entertainment intended to reflect the vibrant feel of the host city as well as the euphoric sensation of knowing that all those Olympic lanes are going to get painted over.
We supplied a troupe of five authentic Brazilian Samba Dancers ‘Brazilian Fantasy’ who performed for guests at events venue and restaurant Aqua Nueva in full costumes featuring feathered headdresses and... not much else from what I can tell. Guests were encouraged to cut loose with a kinetic display of flesh jiggling and hip shaking that was about a million miles away from that whole ‘Cricket/Sheep/Brunel watching on as the British countryside is devoured by smoking chimneys and machinery’ thing.
With the Olympics heading to Rio in four years time, will we see the events industry caught up in Brazilian fever? Or ‘Braz-Illness’ (a word I think I just made up)? It’s possibly too early to tell, but come 2016, if you’re desperately wondering where you can get hold of a group of Brazilian Dancers, we do hope you remember this blog and think “Sternberg Clarke! Sternberg Clarke is where!” before giving us a call.
Of course, you don’t have to wait 4 years before you book Brazilian entertainment for a corporate event or even a wedding – if you’re interested in booking our Samba dancers or any of our other great Brazilian themed acts, get in touch.
