Following her triumphant campaign to become The Next Big Thing in corporate event entertainment - Singer/Harpist/Guitarist Iona Thomas has been the subject of much discussion in the Sternberg Clarke Offices. But despite having poured over pictures and video and even having watched her perform in the competition - most of us hadn't met the young lady who walked away with a yearlong contract with London's Leading Supplier of Entertainment.
Thankfully, we put that right last week when Iona came into the office to play a couple of songs for us and meet the team. Has winning the competition gone to her head? Yes - yes it has. Iona flew into a rage when Thomas Gorton had the audacity to make eye contact with her and then refused to perform without a vase full of brown M&Ms. No but seriously, she's really nice and we're looking forward to working with her.
Iona's use of Electric Harp, Guitar and Loop pedals is certainly a novelty - but none of that should detract from Iona's voice which is a genuine pleasure. She's also versatile enough to work as a standard Singer Guitarist or slightly less standard Singer Harpist... or maybe even both. Performing a harp-ified version of 'Someone Like You' and a stripped down 'Fly Me To The Moon' on guitar, Iona gave us a glimpse of what we can expect from her at upcoming events.
