February 20, 2013
Strange though it may seem in the middle of February, this is our First Audition Post of 2013 – unless you count the first round of the event industry’s biggest talent show The Next Big Thing – which I don’t. But this week we’re back in the auditioning mood, kicking off with a great performance from the Latchin Jazz Trio.
The band, lead by pianist Gabriel, perform a wide range of instrumental jazz that’s perfect for background music during dinner or music for networking parties. Their repertoire features a healthy dose of tunes from the American songbook and an even healthier dose of jazz standards. In addition to the piano, the band features Bass and Drums which, thanks to the use of brush sticks, were quiet enough not to disturb our downstairs neighbours – so no worries about volume levels for venues with sound limits.
