In Pictures: Tradition Retold at the Tower of London - HRP Showcase

February 23, 2016

Who doesn’t love a good showcase event? The chance to wine and dine with industry peers (or ‘eventprofs’ as they like to be called), whilst indulging in some of the finest efforts of each individual part of the events world. With floral arrangements and decoration from Simon Lycett, tasty morsels from By Word of MouthVelvet Living providing some sumptuous furniture and White Light Events focusing on all things lights and technical wizardry, there wasn’t a lot more left to do! Except of course, providing the evening’s entertainment. What a wonderful night!

If you are looking for a gorgeous events venue in the heart of London that carries worldwide renown, then Historical Royal Palaces’ Tower of London has to be one of the main options on your list. The fabulous location for the incredible poppies art installation, which marked 100 years since World War I in 2014, the building is in a stunning location a stone’s throw from the River Thames, affording fabulous views of Tower Bridge whilst you party or dine the night away!

Upon arrival, the luckiest dinner guests in town were able to marvel at the transformation of the Tower of London; a multitude of lights decorated the outside of the landmark, changing the brick from its usual tone into a vibrant smorgasbord of colour – blues, purples, reds and yellows all featured – and guests couldn’t get enough, photographing and recording the marvellous changing landscape. And this was just the start of the event! What more could they expect? As the below pictures from the fantastic Holly Clark Photography show, every company involved had done an incredible job of welcoming attendees into this historic venue.

No sooner had everybody taken in the splendour of the event than they were duly offered champagne and a chance to network (what better place in which to do it?!) Canapés included these extremely cute cones of truffle popcorn, which disappeared within minutes of their arrival! And to entertain these various events staff? The impeccable tones of Fables and Friends, demonstrating their new wandering status to great effect! Watch out Wandering Hands! Comprising a cajon, guitar and two vocalists, this is an energetic act to get guests dancing and ready for a wonderful evening ahead. Although guests would no doubt have been happy to stay sipping champagne and eating popcorn to the impeccable party tunes, they soon had to move to the next treat all involved had provided…

…Yes, a sit down dinner! What a treat! At most showcases, people are expected to stand throughout, but for this one it was table service and astonishing meals whilst enjoying the entertainment and chatter around your table. So let’s be aware of just what everyone was enjoying: all the best parts of a wedding without any of the necessity to chat to people you don’t know. We’re all events professionals, we all understand the industry and a chance to sample some of the best stuff on offer (for free, no less)… Well, now that screams party to us! As if to hammer home the point, the brilliant J-Tones were on offer to provide the music, singing a few a cappella show tunes to the delight of their audience, whilst no doubt looking on enviously at the food on offer.

As the speeches flowed (seem told you it was like a wedding), guests were duly informed of just how lucky they were. One need only look at the setting and surrounding to admire that! Velvet LivingSimon LycettWhite Light Events and of course the venue itself had done a superb job! But enough hyperbole about the companies involved, it was time to indulge and people were only too happy to eat the treats By Word of Mouth had laid on. Lyndsay provided fantastic musical accompaniment with her combination of percussion and DJ, whilst the astonishingly good new act Tones duly brought evening to a close. A combination of pop and opera (popera?), it was a duet with a sprinkling of comedy that was a perfect end to the evening whilst guests enjoyed their lovingly crafted dessert.

Alas, sadly that was all. Or was it? as the eventprofs returned to real life, there was one more surprise in store. Yes, White Light Events had again immortalised the party in all its glory by shining evening’s hashtag upon the building for all to see. One need only look up #HRPShowcase on Twitter or Instagram (yes, we’ve done it for you), to see more fantastic photos from the event. It goes without saying that we wish to thank everyone involved for such a marvellous showcase and hope everyone who attended had a great time!
