In Pictures: The Popcorns, Freight Train & More @ Banqueting House

June 18, 2018

When looking to pick a venue for an event, we can’t think of many spaces that are better the absolutely gorgeous Banqueting House in central London. A historic venue that has to be seen to be believed, we were beyond delighted to provide entertainment for a party at Banqueting House last week and as the pictures prove, it was fantastic fun!

The evening kicked off with canapés and drinks in the Banqueting Hall. A breathtaking area envisioned by James I and originally unveiled in 1622, it is a truly spectacular events space and was the perfect choice for Stand Up Opera, who provided music as guests arrived. Performing their songs just in front of the stunning red throne, they were a huge hit with all attendees and certainly provided a sense of what was ahead with one half of the duo dressed in a classic black masquerade mask whilst the other opted for the rather more opulent golden option!

The Popcorns were then invited to the stage to perform some background jazz. A unique instrumental trio, the band comprise of a banjo, double bass and sax, which certainly marks them out as different to many other musical trios in London! Providing a fun and lively atmosphere, they breezed through a wonderful set that included classic jazz standard alongside pop classics, all presented in their highly original sound.

Alongside the songs, we were extremely happy to be working with magician Dan and silhouette artist Oliver who each meandered about the room entertaining guests with their incredible skills. A sleight of hand specialist, Dan was seen to be wowing guests as he made cards disappear. Oliver was actually the complete opposite, causing jaws to drop as he appeared to create the profile of guests into pieces of black card whilst they waited, all with just a snip of a tiny pair of scissors. Both performers received a genuinely wonderful reception!

How to end a masquerade evening? That’s a great question and one which we think our client got absolutely spot on! Yes, they opted for a masquerade DJ in the form of one half of Freight Train, an act that appeared to love his costume for the evening! Needless to say, the music rang out for hours, the guests had a tremendous time and so did we!
