In Pictures: The Man in the High Castle Premiere @ The Soho Hotel

November 10, 2015

There aren't many television shows that can boast producers including the creator of The X Files, Frank Spotnitz and Ridley Scott, director of current box office hit, The Martian. But The Man in the High Castle is not just any television show; soon to be playing in its entirety on Amazon as an Amazon Original, the series is set to follow Transparent as one of the must-watch shows on Amazon Prime. But how do you launch the programme properly? Well, that's where we came in...

The Man in the High Castle is an adaptation of the Philip K. Dick book of the same name, a novel that asks 'What if...?' Now these alternate history novels have been done before but this classic from 1962 asks a huge question! 'What if the US had lost WWII? What if Nazis control one half of America and Japan controls the other? What would America be like?' A mouthwatering proposal certainly and one ripe with imagination!

It was this sort of imagination that was required for the premiere when we were contacted to provide theming for the entire event. It's certainly a tricky proposal due to the subjects involved but working with DDA PR and Bespoke Productions (and of course Amazon themselves) we were more than happy with the results!

Turning The Soho Hotel into a war bunker, we laid down hundreds of sandbags, greande boxes, ammo boxes and put up some curtains to enhance the evening's entertainment and make a truly memorable event. Flags of the countries involved were then draped either side of the room to ensure a truly immersive experience, especially with the Reichsadler Imperial Eagle projected into the cinema. Dealing with a blank canvas can sometimes be a bit daunting but when there is a clear vision in mind, it can create something special as the pictures show!

Since the premiere of The Man in the High Castle has already been available on the Amazon website for the past year or so as part of their 'pilots season', the second episode was shown for guests and a cast and crew Q & A followed. All in all it was a fantastic night and we can't wait to see the rest of the series!
