In Pictures: The Ayoub Sisters, London Contemporary Voices and Will the Caricaturist @ Banqueting House

May 12, 2016

It’s no secret that we love Banqueting House. It’s certainly one of the grandest venues in London, not least because of the gorgeous throne at the end of the main room as well as the Rubens masterpiece, which adorns the ceiling. The venue has recently been restored – it only reopened last month after closing at the end of 2015 – and to celebrate, Historical Royal Palaces invited a number of event professionals to dine under Rubens. As ever, we were on hand to provide the event entertainment and give the occasion the splendour it deserved.

Welcomed into the splendid venue, guests were immediately impressed with the work of all the other Historical Royal Palaces suppliers for the evening. Wise Productions had done masterful work with the lighting, Pinstripes and Peonies provided some stunning floral decoration, whilst Great Hire was on hand with the furniture. The perfect example of various suppliers working in tandem to ensure a great night!

As guests sipped on their drinks, Will the Caricaturist was duly making his way around the congregation, drawing guests in his beautifully original way. This wasn’t an ordinary caricature either, oh no! This was digital caricature; a classic form of entertainment brought up to date with a little technology! Guests could then have images emailed to them - perfect for immediate sharing with friends and family and a winning idea if you’re looking to hire entertainment for corporate events.

As the drinks continued to flow, it was time for The Ayoub Sisters to wow the crowd with a contemporary set in a classical style. There were a number of pop classics and film tunes thrown in that you may have recognised and they went down a storm! This isn’t too surprising as the duo have recently played at the Royal Albert Hall for Classic FM and have also worked with mega producer Mark Ronson in the past year! Make no mistake about it, we were very lucky to be able to provide such a wonderful act for the evening and they are a must book should you be hiring entertainment for a private party or wedding.

The Ayoub Sisters played into the start of dinner, which was provided by the lovely Urban Caprice. As the tasty meals were hastily eaten, attendees were also able to admire the fabulous sculptured vases provided by The Icebox. It’s hard to put into words quite how amazing they were and you can see a photo here.

After dinner, it was time for the final piece of entertainment for the evening. We wanted to provide an act that would again seamlessly merge classical entertainment with a more modern approach. With that in mind, London Contemporary Voices were the perfect choice. Their set began with a masterclass in beatboxing before the entire group made their way to the stage for a performance that won’t be forgotten by anybody watching in a hurry. Beginning with a stunning rendition of Prince’s When Doves Cry, they closed with an inspired Destiny’s Child medley in pitch perfect harmony.

In all, it was a wonderful occasion and a fabulous night. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to dine under Rubens and we cannot wait to return to Banqueting House for another event later this year.
