The National Gallery have recently changed their events policy and to celebrate, we helped provide entertainment for a wonderful night as we ‘stepped into a masterpiece’.
The invitation had stated that guests would get to ‘travel on a journey from Monet’s magical water-lily garden to the finest baroque courts in Europe, then experience the grandeur of 18th Century English decadence and the beauty of the French Impressionists, before reaching your final surprise destination’. Colour us intrigued!
When guests arrived, they ascended the famous steps in Trafalgar Square, also known as the Portico Entrance. Attendees then made their way through to the Central Hall – where superb harpist Isabella was performing - marvelling at the impressive production provided by White Light Events for the occasion.
As The Blind Tigers duo greeted them with some spellbinding New Orleans-inspired music, our silhouette artist Oliver wandered amongst the crowd, providing instantaneous profiles of guests with nothing but a black sheet of paper and some scissors.
As the evening went on and the canapés from Table Talk were duly dispatched (oh how we enjoyed the parmesan cone), we moved from the baroque themed Central Hall towards the Barry Rooms, an impressive setting for any event, with a spectacular domed roof. As if looking to build on this splendour, The Blind Tigers impressively turned into a 5-piece, delighting the audience with more of their vintage tunes. Again, Oliver was on hand to provide a unique piece of entertainment, of which many clients weren’t too familiar. Desserts were laid on too, presented in a fabulous arch by P and P Flowers.
With the drinks and canapés continuing to flow, the National Gallery had a surprise up its sleeve for the finale to the evening, an incredible Ibiza-style club night in Annenberg Court with Organic Jam and Peter providing the music with the Superhoopers adding to the party atmosphere. Also on hand were the incredible Ice Angels, putting together a concoction of either Pina Colada or Lemon Meringue-flavoured ice cream by mixing cream with liquid nitrogen. C'est magnifique!
We’d never seen the National Gallery like it and were extremely happy to be part of a great team of event professionals to put together their big launch night. What an evening!
