In Pictures: Ember, Caricature, Magic & The Blind Tigers @ The V&A

July 19, 2018

Is there anything that goes together as well as summer events and The V&A? We don’t think so, so imagine our delight when we were called upon to book entertainment for just such an occasion recently and provided some of our top acts for what would be an amazing event.

The Blind Tigers are one of our most popular jazz trios, often performing at gorgeous venues throughout London. We don’t think there are many places that they haven’t played and there were only too happy to be back at The V&A for a very special evening. Playing through some classic jazz standards and jazz version of modern pop hits, they really do provide some of the best background music that you are likely to hear and it was clear they guests hugely enjoyed their sets both inside and out!

Our client had first contacted us to say that they were looking for some strolling entertainment and with that in mind, we put forward a few suggestions and they ultimately ended up booking a caricaturist and booking a magician. With regards to the latter, we booked Gareth to perform a number of strolling sets throughout the soirée including a fantastic magic trick that saw him turn five or six receipts into a stack of £20 pound notes! Alas, they weren’t given to guests as a souvenir.

Whilst that was going on, Chrissy the caricaturist was putting together exceptional exaggerated drawings of guests in front of a big screen, so that anybody walking by could see his work in action. This is one of the first times we’ve seen this use of technology with regards to a caricaturist and it was hugely effective in drumming up a few more models wanting to be drawn and just goes to show how a traditional form of entertainment can be brought into the modern day!

Our final entertainment act for the evening was Ember, a string trio that continue to go from strength to strength and are now signed by a major label! They played on their electric instruments and astonished the crowd with their unique arrangements of pop hits and classic tunes. Hugely charismatic and with a commanding stage presence, they are the act of the moment and it’s fair to say they went down very well indeed.

As ever, it was a beautiful evening at one of London’s finest museums. Booking the Victoria & Albert Museum for an event is a great choice thanks to the versatility of the venue – we’ve provided entertainment there for drinks receptions, dinners, awards shows and more – and we cannot wait to return.
