Christmas is undoubtedly our busiest time of year with hundreds of events occurring across the capital each and every day. Some of these bookings are minimal with only a pianist or guitarist in attendance, a few are hotel residencies, a number involving two or three acts and occasionally, we’ll have a truly huge event that requires a multitude of entertainment with a professional photographer in tow. The Christmas party at Hotel Café Royal was definitely the latter with our client wanting to celebrate the holiday season in the best way possible – by hiring entertainment of course! The superb photographer Charles Sturge was on hand to capture the events of the evening.
With guests coming in out of the cold, they were greeted by a beautiful scene of winter props and polar (teddy) bears. Making their way through the hotel, they soon found themselves in a glorious Christmas party setting with a wonderful selection of food and drink, as well as a veritable mix of entertainment options to enjoy. Almost instantly, our Father Christmas was mobbed for photos and no doubt questioned by attendees as to whether they had been good enough for a present this year (more on that later).
As well as mingling with Santa and chatting with one another, guests were also able to enjoy the soulful tunes of Wandering Hands. One of our most booked acts throughout the year, this fantastic acoustic trio delivered tune after tune, ensuring that everybody was able to sing and dance to their favourite songs… Don’t forget that with Wandering Hands, it’s the audience that gets to choose the music.
With Father Christmas continuing to prove popular, other forms of entertainment were also turning the eye. Our client had decided to hire a graffiti wall, which certainly made for a bit of fun without vandalising the hotel interior. However if you weren’t wanting to show off your artistic skills, you could always hope to bump into top magician Magical Bones as he performed tricks all about the room. We think the reactions speak for themselves! He really is a wonderful showman and astounded guests.
After a little more drink and chatter, it was time to turn back to Father Christmas. Remember we mentioned presents earlier. Well Christmas came early for a lucky few in attendance with numerous trips to Europe and afternoon teas in London hotels being given away by St. Nicholas himself. These are just a few of over thirty smiling winners, beaming with delight at their very special gifts.
And with that, the evening was done… Okay, maybe not quite. Wandering Hands continued to play into the evening, laughter and chatter also continued with numerous photographs being exchanged and the great man himself continues to pose in his magnificent costume until it was only he and a few others left to vacate the premises. Eventually Santa’s sleigh picked him up to take him back to the North Pole and we stepped back out into the glorious setting of London’s Regent Street. It truly had been a magical evening and now we were definitely feeling the Christmas spirit!
