Sometimes you need to let your hair down in an iconic venue in London and that is exactly what happened at the Imperial War Museum with Acro Felipe, Freight Train and the Corelli Duo wowing the guests in attendance. Not just any guests either, oh no, for this was a showcase event that showed off the great and the good of the events industry including our good selves on entertainment duty, the Imperial War Museum (obviously), Peyton Events on catering (delicious!), Mary Jane Vaughan on flowers (incredible!), Light Motif and Wise Productions combining to provide the production required for the evening, GDC and Wow Grass literally wowing us all with their interior decoration and Great Hire bringing along the furniture. Phew! We were all in need of a drink… Which was great because Stagg and Barber and Snap Shot Staffing provided the incredible bar and waiting staff!
Upon arrival, guests were able to admire a fantastic union jack that had been created from flowers and teacups in the reception area of the Imperial War Museum by GDC Events. Certainly setting the bar high for the evening, guests were then instructed to literally head higher, right up to the top floor of the museum where there is a gorgeous covered roof terrace, specifically in placed for entertaining and events.
This area of the events venue provided fantastic acoustics for the Corelli Duo to show off their skills! A classically trained group, they are able to play stunning pieces of classical music that delighted the events professionals in attendance. Hiring a string quartet or duo for your event instantly adds a little bit of elegance to the occasion and this was certainly true! It has to be said that the surroundings were beautiful with a Botanical Bar erected towards the back of the room and some Wow Grass to stand upon arrival; we were really bringing the outside in!
What on earth would be next? Well, showing off the space for an event dinner, the atrium of the Imperial War Museum was transformed. It’s an almighty spectacle as it is, with planes hanging from the rafters and all sorts of all-terrain vehicles on display. Guests headed down the stairs from the fourth floor to the ground floor and eagerly sipped their drinks and ate scrumptious bowl food from Peyton. Their canapés were to die for but the bowl food was something else; sample sized treats that highlighted their brand new exceptional food menus. What could we provide to go along with this wonderful food? Well, how about some wonderful entertainment?
No person in the room could be prepared for what they were about to see! The upper body strength of Acro Felipe is known throughout the London events scene and it isn’t hard to see why. His act on its own is utterly spellbinding but for the Imperial War Museum showcase, we wanted to go one better and added in some live music as well. Acro Felipe and the Corelli Duo combined to create a truly unique act that we had never done before at the Imperial War Museum and it was abundantly clear that everyone was astounded at the beauty of the entertainment on display. With the musicians ably providing an acoustic accompaniment to his act, Acro Felipe performed hand balance to the hushed room and we recorded it so that you too could get the full effect of Felipe in action!
Freight Train then took to the decks for an hour to provide background music for the event, with many an event professional happy to use the time to network and eat more of the endlessly creative Peyton food! It really was a fabulous showcase and we must offer our thanks to the Imperial War Museum, Peyton and every other supplier for being so accommodating. A stunning showcase that gets us excited for the next few months!
