In Pictures: A List Awards Ceremony Entertainment At Madame Tussauds

October 23, 2014

For an awards ceremony hosted at Madame Tussauds’ premier world stage, we delivered a gourmet buffet of high class entertainment to recapture – in our own special way – the glitz and glamour of the academy awards complete with some unusual trimmings.

The star studded lineup of acts performing on the evening were; a full-bodied instrumental jazz band, a flock of lookalikes replete with vintage fedora-wearing paparazzi, Elle & the Pocket Belles, our classic “singing waiters”, stand up comedian Hal Cruttenden, acrobalance duo Brothers of Eden and finally the Bolly Flex Bollywood dance troupe.

With wax visages of A-listers from Beyoncé to Britney looking on, the inspiration behind the event was to put a fun, light-hearted spin on Hollywood’s most prestigious annual awards and make sure all guests – and not just the award winners – received the red carpet treatment from the beginning to the end.

To set the glamorous tone for the evening, a three-piece band played some smooth jazz instrumentals for guests as they entered with Dame Helen Mirren providing some gentle encouragement.

During the drinks reception, guests had an opportunity to feel like true stars as they posed with real celebrity lookalikes in front of a 50s era reporter – complete with press pass holding fedora – taking shots.

And once it was time for dinner to be served, the glamorous Elle and the Pocket Belles served up their own sweet delights as they sang with their vintage inspired swinging twists on contemporary hits.

Creating a golden era ambience reminiscent of 50s Hollywood, they provided some scintillating background music as guests dined.

What would any gourmet entertainment buffet be without a tasty pièce de résistance? A surprise group of singing waiters fit the bill perfectly.

These talented counterfit tenors disguised themselves as members of the catering staff until they suddenly burst into song towards the end of the main course – giving guests a truly welcome surprise.

One of the top comedians on the circuit today, Hal Cruttenden warmed up the audience for the main event as he slalomed his way through a stand up set of delicately delivered darkly humorous observations and jokes.

The multiple award-nominated comedian pulled no punches as he ramped up the stakes for what proved to be a memorable award ceremony full of suspense and yet even more surprises.

After the awards ceremony, acrobalance duo Brothers of Eden put on a stunning show of powerful zen-like feats of balance and lifting accompanied by awe-inspiring acrobatic abilities.

The statuesque world champion gymnasts were painted in gold to create a fun, unique spin on the Oscar awards themselves – representing those tiny little gold statues that every A list actor so desperately craves to add to their award cabinet.

To round off the evening, Bollywood dance troupe Bolly Flex flexed their dancing feet as they performed a high energy dance set to a Bollywood inspired soundtrack and completed the feel of an evening that aimed to channel a creative, light-hearted take on the serious star studded glitz and glamour of the Oscars.
