Freight Train, Sax and Percussion @ Science Gallery London

September 19, 2018

Last night was the launch event for the gorgeous Science Gallery London, a brand new venue for events just a stone’s throw from The Shard. Part of King’s College, this fully restored area includes a courtyard, a number of spaces for meetings, conferences, etc. and a small theatrical style cinema area that is guaranteed to impress.

How best to open a science themed venue? It was clear that the team behind the Science Gallery London had thought a lot about this and decided to hope that the weather is good – it was – and initially focus on ensuring that guests had a fabulous time enjoying the newly created courtyard area. Guests assembled beneath a Key Structures marquee and were overjoyed to sample the delights of the Edible Mist Orbs and other assortments courtesy of the Willy Wonka-esque Lick Me, I’m Delicious team.

We were only too delighted to offer some entertainment as well with our saxophonist Tom and percussionist Jonty playing along to some chilled out music, which provided just the right vibe for proceedings at this stage of the evening. After a couple of some drinks and the all-important networking, key members of the Science Gallery came to the stage to officially open the venue and tell us a little more about the history of where we were standing; a history that includes Roman barges, Nazi bombings and much more! All very interesting and it certainly shines a light on this new chapter in the building’s life.

With the venue officially declared open, we ventured inside to sample not only the event spaces but the all-important canapes, which included fish, meat and vegan options and a few desserts as well. Freight Train were on hand, again with Tom and Jonty, to provide the music and as the night sky moved in, the LED sax made an appearance which certainly went down a storm!

We took the opportunity to further explore the Science Gallery London – definitely look into their exhibition Hooked when it opens – and positively adored the photo opportunities from the balcony. A real treat!
