Recent Events might be a bit of a misnomer for this one, as the pictures from this gig were found buried in the deepest recesses of one of our work cameras (and required a bit of judicious instagramming) but it’s been a while since we’ve written about the brilliant Fables & Friends so, any excuse...
The sunny, folk-tinged wedding band lead by singer Georgia performed at the Doodle Bar in Battersea. The sparse, minimalist surroundings of the venue were a great fit for the Fables stripped back take on pop songs such as Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy and Stevie Wonder’s Sir Duke which you can listen to... go on, click on them – you can listen right there. We call ‘em “hyperlinks”.
Fables & Friends are always great for outdoor events with their acoustic instruments and use of a cajon instead of a drumkit making them every venue manager’s dream what with that whole ‘not setting the sound limiter off’ thing they have going on. But the band’s rustic, folksy sound also makes them a good fit for autumnal events which are already on the horizon (and no doubt by Christmas, I’ll start saying they’re ideal for that too).
