Excellent Entertainment Ideas for Gibson Hall

August 01, 2019

Gibson Hall is a gorgeous venue located in the City of London and every so often we like to pop in to assess which new acts (and some older ones) might work wonderfully within such an events space. This blog seeks to answer that very question so without further ado, let’s crack on and see what works at Gibson Hall’s Main Hall, Garden Room and Garden.

Main Hall

One of the main things to note about Gibson Hall is that it is a historic Grade I-listed venue that is essentially a blank canvas for events! The Main Hall is a beautiful room that you can take a good look at via Google Streetview (the wonders of technology) and it’s possible to see that the possibilities are endless! The Gibson Hall events team know that entertainment excels from a stage and are more than happy to build one for acts including Frobacks and Ember. With a dance area also available, we can also recommend a DJ for that party atmosphere. Not looking for headline acts? No problem, background music always goes down well or why not surprise all diners at your gala dinner with a bit of stand up opera?

In truth, pretty much anything works inside the Main Hall because it is such a versatile venue. Built in 1865, its marble columns and beautiful chandeliers will enhance any events including weddings, awards ceremonies, corporate events and more. Your imagination is the limit because there is no noise restriction either! Excellent.

Garden Room

Built around the 1940s and 1950s in an art deco style, the Garden Room is a more modern addition to Gibson Hall and is a superb option for a group that might not require the extensive space of the Main Hall. Flooded with natural light and a must for summer events, the Garden Room is great for drinks receptions and buffets, and we highly recommend something light and unimposing in this particular space – a harpist or a string quartet suit the area absolutely wonderfully. Hugely popular after wedding ceremonies, we often find that magicians and other strolling acts will also work extremely well.

As the name suggests, coming out of the Garden Room, one will find themselves in the Garden, a superbly maintained courtyard space including a tranquil, private lawn. A must for summer events, barbecues and cocktail parties are particularly popular in this part of Gibson Hall and in truth, any and all strolling entertainment continues to work well. Acoustic acts like Wandering HandsShe Wants to MoveThe Bow Fiddlies and The Gallivants are fabulous choices whilst a slightly more ‘out there’ pick like Living Champagne Tables is sure to go down well amongst guests.

But why quit there? It isn’t often that one of the primary event venues in London has a lawn so why not make use of it? Garden games like quoits, boule or croquet can be set up for all to enjoy and will ensure a magical atmosphere and the sun slowly descends on your party. If that is the case, we can highly recommend another amazing act for guests to enjoy – Fire Tuba. Trust us, they won’t forget that form of entertainment in a hurry.

In conclusion then, Gibson Hall is a hugely versatile and exciting events venue that is perfect for small soirées to large corporate functions. From music to magic, circus and more, we think it will provide the perfect backdrop for any occasion.
