Events of the Decade – 2019

December 20, 2019

It’s finally here, our final blog on our favourite events of the decade! It’s been a marathon run from 2010 through to 2018 so far, but let’s find out what our favourite events have been of the past year, starting with an incredible event at One Marylebone.

Cast your mind back to the start of 2019 and you may remember that the one thing that was on everybody lips, certainly inside our office at any rate, was Game of Thrones and in particular the final season. As such, we hosted a number of ‘GoT’ themed events throughout this time and though the finale was a bit of an annoyance for many, we feel that our Game of Thrones event at One Marylebone certainly did justice to the source material. Not only did we provide a contortionist, acrobatic jesters and medieval music, but we also booked a sword thrower alongside a fire performer! Yes, the very best (and most dangerous) acts of the circus were presented for just one night only in this most historic of venues and we have to say that the photos were absolutely incredible. Just look at the flare!

Luna’s Moona was hugely popular this year too with hugely visual performances at both The Wallace Collection and Natural History Museum (yes, it wouldn’t be an Events of the Decade blog without a mention of this popular venue). An aerial hoop in the style of a crescent moon, we feel that the photos do a tremendous job of showcasing just how sensational this circus act is, and we adore the way Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon exhibit fits neatly inside the hoop! Accompaniment at this particular event was from Entourage.

Strictly SW7 has provided us with a host of incredible events over the years and this year we were overjoyed to be welcomed back to one of the venues involved in the creation of that event, The V&A, to put help with their summer soirée. It was a vintage, fashion feel that was requested for this particular showcase and as such, we put on some bespoke entertainment that we felt would really set the mood. The Gabrielle Trio provided perfect background music as our fashion portrait illustrator Melissa provided superb drawings of guests that wouldn’t look out of place in Vogue or Vanity Fair. Hugely popular cabaret performer Jolie Papillon was then on hand to deliver a specially created French Riviera-inspired performance literally within the V&A fountains before our always excellent DJ Carlo presented his brand new act, Him, Her and I to provide a pulsating set of danceable tunes throughout the evening. A wonderful occasion in gorgeous surroundings!

Sibos is a mega event held in a different city of the world each and every year. An annual banking and financial conference, 2019 was the first time that Sibos had been held in London and we were tapped to provide entertainment for both the opening and closing of the event as well as a few events for various companies attending the proceedings. Not only did we help facilitate a sensational kinetic light/videomapped dance sequence to open the conference (see the video below!) but we also provided a host of fab acts for the closing ceremony including Bond lookalikes, the Royal Footmen and the LCV choir. An absolutely brilliant set of events for Sibos 2019!

When it comes to private parties, they don’t get much better than our fabulous circus event in Purley over the summer. Featuring a host of incredible acts including stilt walkers, aerial hoop artists and astonishing acrobat trio BMT, we have never enjoyed a private party like it with performances taking place in a bespoke Big Top circus tent complete with cannon. Arranged to celebrate a landmark birthday, every guest also arrived in circus-themed fancy dress and the photos speak for themselves.

It has been another fantastic year at Sternberg Clarke and the perfect way to end the decade. Thank-you to all the suppliers and venues that we have worked over the years to create these memorable events; we cannot wait to see what the 2020s will hold!
