Events of the Decade - 2017

December 17, 2019

Ah, 2017. It doesn’t seem too long ago, does it? And yet at the same time in just a few weeks, it will have been three years ago! Where does the time disappear to? In this latest blog we’ll take a look at some of the finest events that we were involved with back in 2017, featuring the finest photos that we have in the archive!

2017 was particularly noteworthy very early on in the year when we hosted a lovely birthday party at The Grove. Featuring a circus theme, entertainment acts included a balloon modeller, a magician, a juggler, a unicyclist and an usherette that those both young and young at heart could enjoy. As you can see from the photos, it was such a colourful array of delights! We almost wish we could pop back there right now!

Also in 2017, the Tower of London was the spectacular setting for an incredible party that event industry experts from across the capital were desperate to attend. It’s easy to see why with Flora & Fauna on hand to meet and greet as guests arrived and the Dukebox Singers and Booth Street West in attendance to provide the music. And that wasn’t all – magician Gareth amazed people at their tables, Gypsy Dynamite impressed with their guitars and much loved trio Ember headlined the evening, providing a set that had everybody grabbing for their phones in order to preserve the memory. What a beautiful evening!

In terms of Sternberg Clarke showcases, we were lucky enough to host at The Ivy of all places. It doesn’t get much more luxurious and impressive than that! Acts that we provided were a veritable who’s who of the entertainment industry with Beatvox, Ember, Claudia the contortionist, Collabro(!) and Chris Turner in attendance to provide music, circus and comedy which all could enjoy. It really was an incredible, exclusive evening that only a select few were able to enjoy!

How can we move on from that? How about by providing entertainment at a celebrity-filled gala? Yes, we were contacted by a large company to impress the great and the good of London with an astronaut floating through Turbine Hall at the TATE Modern. That is the sort of request that even gives us pause for thought but after a quick check of logistics and contacting the ultimate circus performer in the form of Felipe, guests were stunned to see an actual astronaut floating through the air from up on high, twirling as he went. With guests including Buzz Aldrin and George Clooney in the audience (who had been in Gravity just a couple of years before), it really was quite the event!

The final event that we thought we’d share with you from 2017 was a tremendous, imaginative evening from the Royal Museum in Greenwich, which for one night only was transformed into Wonderland! In attendance were Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, and many, many more colourful characters all played by actors, Wandering Hands, Lucas the unicyclist and more. The theme rang through in every room with numerous props completely enthralling guests and from the photos it’s easy to see why!

That wraps up our look at 2017, though we must stress that as ever there were many other excellent events that we haven’t included. Since it’s Christmas we would strongly urge you to look at our Christmas party at the Hotel Café Royal for instance!

All in all, it was a fabulous year and we hope you’ll join us for our penultimate events of the decade blog on the 18th as we look back on 2018.
