December 06, 2019
Events of the Decade has reached 2012 and yes, there will be some London 2012 excitement a little further down this blog. There are also incredible events and parties at venues including the London Transport Museum, Freshfields and Mansion House. Without further ado then, let’s take a look at what Sternberg Clarke got up to in 2012.
We were delighted to be able to provide entertainment at the London Transport Museum for Samsung and Chelsea football club. Not only did we book a singer-pianist and dancers but we also had Sally performing acrobalance in front of a couple of world famous double decker buses. As you can see from the photos, it looked spectacular!
In June we were lucky enough to find ourselves in the TATE Modern’s Turbine Hall for a spectacular performance of parkour and BMX bikers. Alongside these, we booked a fencing pair to perform, the incredible Heliosphere and had the fantastic singer Gena West on hand to deliver a wonderful performance with no less than 15 backing singers to enhance the atmosphere. A truly impressive spectacle that managed to fill the room.
When it comes to product launches or tie-ins, we know what works. Evidently acrobalance was in throughout 2012 because we provided another tremendous circus performance to help promote Vitamin Water at the Langham. The space was a small one in which to provide entertainment but we managed to make it work, booking the aforementioned circus act, a burlesque performance and some digipoi. A highly refreshing event (sorry).
August 2012 was a big month for Sternberg Clarke with a host of sports-related bookings, most notably providing entertainment at Team GB House during the Closing Ceremony party and also assisting with the opening and closing of the Paralympics, where we booked a caricaturist, contact juggler, Neb the magician, Royal Footmen and a few costumed characters. String quartet Corelli, Winter Jazz and function band The Toots were also on hand to provide the music across the ceremonies. Oh how we miss London 2012! The capital really was alive with optimism and enjoyment as we welcomed nationalities from all over the world. We even booked Brazilian dancers to highlight the excitement of passing the Olympic Torch on to Rio de Janeiro for 2016.
One final event we’ve decided to highlight from 2012 was an absolutely gorgeous occasion where we booked the English National Ballet to perform at Mansion House as part of an evening for Visit Great Britain. The ballet was an astonishing and mesmerising piece between male and female dancers, a photo of which we have up in our office to this day. A sparkling evening for all in attendance.
There were a host of events we couldn’t quite manage to squeeze into this particular blog – roue cyr at the Natural History Museum and African entertainment at Kensington Palace. Suffice to say, it was another great year for Sternberg Clarke. Join us in two days’ time to see what 2013 held!
