Event Pictures: Brazilian Entertainment at the V & A, SW7

July 11, 2016

When it comes to the events industry, not many venues are better than putting on an party than those on Exhibition Road. Every two years, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum get together to put on SW7, a celebration of the three wonderful venues on Exhibition Road. This year, we were in charge of supplying the event entertainment at the V&A and what a fabulous party it was.

Events are nothing without all suppliers coming together and working in harmony. When hiring for an event, recommended suppliers know exactly what will and will not work at your corporate event or private party and this is exemplified in these fabulous photos by Darren Gerrish. The gorgeous floral arrangements were put together by Philippa Craddock Flowers, The Recipe ensured that nobody went home hungry with some superbly tasty canapes and we must give our personal thanks to Light Motif for the production and staging for our acts!

With the Olympics on its way, it seemed right to provide some Olympic entertainment! This year that means hiring Brazilian entertainment acts and although booking Samba dancers would have been the obvious choice, we wanted to do something a little bit different. Who better to kick off the party than the amazing vocal/guitar duo Sararosa, who were surrounded by colourful ribbons in the quadrant of the V&A as they performed Bossa Nova and jazz tunes which delighted guests.

No sooner had Sararosa departed the stage than the Capoeira dancers entered the scene to wow the crowd with their Brazilian dance moves. Capoeira is a form of martial art that combines the crafts of dance (obviously), acrobatics and music and in certain countries is even referred to as a game, though you’d have to ask the performers about the rules! For us, it’s simply an astonishing combination of quick and complex moves that are visually stunning.

After a quick break for general networking and chatter amongst event professionals, the darkening sky was the cue for Sararosa to return to the stage. This time, it was evident to all just how beautiful the staging was at the Victoria & Albert Museum; the lights came on and our musical duo were able to sit on the specially created transparent stairs. Beautiful.

With guests continuing to munch on flavoursome desserts beyond their wildest dreams, the Capoeira dancers returned to the stage. If you are looking for Brazilian entertainment to hire then we really can’t stress how astonishing this act is to see live. We certainly think the photos do the performance justice!

All in all, it was a gorgeous night and we cannot wait to return to SW7 in two years’ time. This event undoubtedly provided us with some of our favourite photos of the year and the feedback has been incredible. Many thanks to the SW7 organisers and fellow suppliers for having us along and we look forward to seeing you all at more events in the future!
