Entertainment for Residencies

May 09, 2012

We spend a lot of time talking about Corporate Events and Wedding Entertainment here on the Sternberg Clarke blog, but we don't often talk about another huge part of what we do; Residencies. For those not in the know, Residencies are when an act is booked (usually by a hotel or restaurant) to perform on a regular basis over the course of months or years.

In fact, Sternberg Clarke started out providing residencies at London hotels and we now provide entertainment for residencies at hotels, bars and restaurants all over London including The Ritz, Rubens at the Palace and The Connaught. Today, we're showcasing a cross section of acts for residency entertainment at some of London's best venues.

As one of the capitol's most iconic hotels, the opulent interior of The Landmark is the perfect location for sleek, sophisticated background music. Our harpist Paula performs regularly at the hotel and always creates a fitting ambience for guests at the venue. A well chosen residency act can be a great way to contribute to the feel of a venue and by having a Harpist performing light classical music, the entertainment complements the surroundings brilliantly.

At the other end of the spectrum, musically speaking was DJ Marlon who has a residency in the Skylounge at the Doubletree by Hilton Tower of London. In the same way that a harpist works with the interior of an historic venue like the Landmark - a contemporary DJ is a similarly smart way to complement the Doubletree's modern aesthetic. With stunning views out over London's skyline, Marlon's mix of contemporary, chilled out background music gives guests a chance to relax and enjoy the sights.

Offering a different kind of ambience, restaurant Roast showcase regular appearances from Jazz vocalist Kate Winter who has long been one of our most popular acts. Kate's mix of Jazz, Latin and Swing make for ideal dinner music - unobtrusive enough to allow guests to talk freely or give the music more of their attention.

Finally, offering a 'poppier' take on residency entertainment were vocalist Emma and guitarist Billy who's regular engagement at the Met Bar has proved to be a hit with guests thanks to their laid back cover versions of popular tunes. The bar, situated in the Metropolitan hotel, offers a warm, inviting space to settle in and enjoy Emma and Billy's demonstration of how good they are at this sort of thing...
