Christmas at Kew 2018 - Event Review

November 29, 2018

The start of the Christmas season is officially here with Christmas at Kew set to delight hordes of peoples for another year. Sternberg Clarke is delighted to attend every year and this year was no different with 2018 quite possibly being the very best yet!

With rain and wind lashing London as we made our way towards Kew Gardens, we were more than a little perturbed. Would we be able to have a good time if we were drenched as we walked around the exhibits? Thankfully the weather relented as soon as got to the entrance and we were delighted to enjoy a spectacular visit to Christmas at Kew with no need for umbrellas. Hooray! There was even time for a mulled wine…

We don’t want to spoil the excitement of uncovering the exhibits for yourself so we will simply show some of the lovely photos that you will be able to take on your journey through Kew Gardens without mentioning the order that you will see them. Christmas at Kew is stunning every single year with trees and plants lit up to amaze, whilst the grass is transformed into beautifully colourful vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see. It is the same at Christmas at Kew 2018 with superb exhibits named Voyage, Pissenlit (the French word for dandelion), the excellently named Firework Trees and the incredibly exciting Laser Garden.

As with other visits, there is the possibility of roasting a marshmallow over a fire (how much more festive can you get?!), the tunnel of light returns and so does the undoubted headliner of the entire show, a spellbinding light performance to the music of Frozen that sees the Princess of Wales conservatory lit up from across the water.

Christmas at Kew 2018 is just as Christmassy, just as remarkable and just as enjoyable as previous years with the audio and visual installations providing a wonderful atmosphere. It is an exceptionally popular show with tickets already sold out up until Christmas and a fair number of people in attendance when we went but if you can nab a ticket for January then by all means go! We think you will have an awesome time. We certainly did!
