After heat one last month and heat two of Beat the Brief just last week, it was finally time for the final at Event 360. But who would win out between Beato Burrito and The Spitfire Sisters?
First to the stage were everyone’s favourite Mexican mariachi band Beato Burrito, with their projection declaring that the audience could expect ‘Sex and Drugs and Guacamole’. Whilst we never personally saw that, we did an enjoy an eclectic variety of musical tunes during their five minute set that had the crowd howling. There was even a brief amount of audience interaction as one Burrito (is that how you differentiate between the three?) wandered off the stage to serenade one lucky delegate.
With the final of Beat the Brief taking place during C&IT Magazine and Event Magazine’s Event 360 at the Roundhouse, there was no time to delay with many more exciting event experiences for the crowd during the course of the day.
As such, we were quickly introduced to The Spitfire Sisters, who won their Beat the Brief heat just last week. Could they build on their success? By not only singing their vintage collection of wartime tunes but by also including more modern hits and a costume change, the audience were impressed.
But would the victors hail from Mexico or Great Britain? Burrito or Biggin Hill? From the quality of both acts, it was clear that the decision would be a difficult one but after voting on a rather swanky app the audience had decided that...
...The Spitfire Sisters won!
Following in the footsteps of Beatvox last year, they will now go on to perform at the highly popular Event Magazine Awards later in the year as well as winning a cash prize. Very nice! Well done to them and thank-you to everyone else who took part in this year’s Beat the Brief. To the vintage sound of The Spitfire Sisters, we now find ourselves with one eye on next year’s competition...
