It's Band Month at Sternberg Clarke and throughout the month we'll be finding out what makes function bands tick. But as with dance month, this isn't a new obsession of ours - we've been writing about Bands at Corporate Events and Weddings for a while now.
So to catch you up on our previous musings on the art of the function band - here's a handy compendium of our Previous Posts on Bands for Events and Weddings.
There are plenty of posts featuring some of our brilliant function bands performing at corporate events on the blog and this Christmas event at South Lodge is a great example of the right band for the right event. Young, handsome and energetic covers outfit Flood The Floor team up with Ebenezer Scrooge to keep guests dancing till the clock strikes one in this seasonal event.
Alice's Blog on Love My Dress - Tips for Booking a Function Band for a Wedding
When you know function bands like Alice Chorley does, why keep that knowledge to yourself? Over on one of our favourite wedding blogs, the always stylish Love My Dress Blog, Alice shares a few handy hints for getting the most out of a function band at a wedding but there are lots of good points in there for corporate events too. (Thanks to Annabelle for featuring Alice's scribblings.)
Adam on Event Magazine - A Band Full Of Bassists
It's not just Alice who pops up on other blogs, our beloved leader Adam Sternberg has a regular guest blog on the event industry's leading publication Event Magazine. In this post, Adam uses seminal Rock Mockumentary 'This Is Spinal Tap' (more specifically bassist Derek Smalls) to examine the psyche of the Corporate Events Function Band.
What Are Production Costs?
When we quote for a function band, we often give a price + Production and we're often asked what that means exactly. In this helpful post from a few months ago, we break down what exactly 'Production' means, which acts need production and why it isn't included in the band's standard price. Essential reading if you've never booked a band for an event before.
First Impressions: Top 5 Audition Tips for Bands
We love an audition here at Sternberg Clarke, but while we're hardly the scathing talent show judges of Saturday night prime-time TV, we have to admit that not all auditions are created equally. So this post gives a few useful tips for auditioning for an entertainment agency such as ourselves.
Audition: The Shuffle Collective
Finally, to show our commitment to finding the best new bands for events this post is a recent audition featuring one of our favourite new function bands 'The Shuffle Collective'. Sarah went to check the band out at a near-by rehearsal space and was blown away by this sprawling 11-piece outfit and their encyclopedic knowledge of dance-floor ready cover versions.
