Alice in Wonderland Themed Entertainment at Westminster Abbey

June 27, 2013

Some entertainment themes come and go, often thanks to upcoming Hollywood movies or fashion trends but it seems Lewis Carrol’s 1865 novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland retains a timeless allure for corporate event planners looking to bring some of the book’s absurdist magic into their event. That was certainly the case at College Gardens this week where some of our costumed actors helped create an Alice in Wonderland themed event.

Key to the Wonderland experience is getting a good Alice and while there have been a few variations on the character across different media, the basic look has remained the same. Our Alice’s iconic costume was easily recognisable for guests and fit in perfectly with the rest of the event. Leading curious event-goers deeper into the College Gardens was our White Rabbit whose costume was perfect right down to the pocket watch (and ginger beard which most people forget was described in great detail in the original book... ahem...)

Elsewhere, one of our stilt walkers played the part of the Queen of Hearts thanks to an eye catching costume and heart shaped sceptre. The Queen’s towering figure also served as a nice link to the motif of shrinking and growing that’s so prominent in the book. See, we think about these things.

Music for the evening came courtesy of the ever-popular Blind Tigers – sadly the Blind Cheshire Cats weren’t available and also aren’t a band. The vintage jazz quintet performed a selection of Dixieland favourites with the help of thebestinstrumentever, the washboard.

Take a look at some more pictures from the event below.
