Tim Minchin is an internationally acclaimed comedian, songwriter, singer and pianist. Typically barefoot, with wild hair, heavy eye makeup and a crisp suit and tails, Tim Minchin performs comedic songs accompanying himself on a grand piano, his songs punctuated with short stand-up routines and poetry. With subjects ranging from social satire to his own failed rock star ambitions, Tim is renowned for his sharp lyrical observations and extraordinary musicianship.
He’s a popular performer on the UK scene, having sold out shows in London, Canada and Australia and has also garnered radio and TV appearances in the UK, US and Australia, highlights of which include Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. He is also extremely popular in the corporate sector, particularly for his ability to create tailor-made songs for clients, which he has done for Microsoft, Emap and Pret A Manger, to name just a few.
Tim has won a number of awards over the years including three Chortle awards and an Olivier Award for his work on Matilda the Musical. Other achievements include being awarded the Perrier Best Newcomer award (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), The Directors' Choice award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for his show Darkside, Best Alternative Comedy Act at the US Comedy Arts Festival (Aspen), and three-time Green Room Award Winner (Australia).
He is currently working on a musical of the hit Bill Murray film Groundhog Day, which will premiere at the Old Vic theatre in 2016 before tranferring to Broadway.
