Stand Up Comedian

Biography

Alun Cochrane is a professional comedian in high demand on the UK and international comedy circuit. Much of his material is drawn from his own experiences and observations; both the trivial and the absurd. He effortlessly blends friendly storytelling, sharp one liners and off-the-cuff wit in a self-deprecating yet outspoken style.

Alun has performed for a number of corporate clients both performing after-dinner cabaret stand up sets and hosting awards. 2011 sees him host The Exhibition News Awards.

Alun has appeared on a range of TV and radio shows including Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC2), Mock The Week (BBC2), Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1), Have I Got News For You (BBC1) and 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4) as well as various stand-up spots on Comedy Central.

He has also notched up various radio credits including Just A Minute, 4 Stands Up, The Show and Clive Anderson’s Chat Room. In addition, 2009 saw his first foray into breakfast show broadcasting with a successful stint on XFM Manchester.

In 2004 his debut Edinburgh solo show ‘My Favourite Words in My Best Stories’ garnered him a handful of four and five star reviews and a Perrier Best Newcomer Award nomination to go alongside the Writer’s Guild Award For Comedy. He went on to be nominated for "Best Compère" and "Best Break-through Act" at the 2005 Chortle Awards. He returned to Edinburgh in 2010 with his sixth acclaimed solo show ‘Jokes. Life. And Jokes About Life’ which he subsequently took on a full national tour.
