Great Gatsby Themed Entertainment

May 21, 2013

“... I like large corporate events. They’re so intimate. At small corporate events there isn’t any privacy... Also I like when there’s lots of entertainment... Preferably booked through someone like Sternberg Clarke” So said Jordan Baker in F. Scott FitzGerald’s novella The Great Gatsby... sort of. With Baz Luhrmann’s lavish screen adaptation hitting screens this month, plenty of events planners are looking to channel their inner Gatsby and put on the kind of party that’s worth driving recklessly across town for and a big part of getting the theme right is the entertainment. Thankfully, we’re no… Read More

The Java Duo and Penny Arcade for Swan at the Globe

May 10, 2013

With all the music and food on show at this recent promo event for Swan at the Globe, you kind of wish there was some pithy Shakespeare quote you could whip out in the opening paragraph of your blog to make your write-up seem all literary and reinforce the link between the venue and the adjacent Globe Theatre. But sadly, there isn’t. No, really, I studied English and I’m pretty sure there isn’t. Taking advantage of a balmy evening on the banks of the Thames, the popular Bar/Restaurant showed off their Summer Menu and Balcony Room… Read More

May 09, 2013

Tuesday night saw the launch of our new roster of classical musicians The Recitalists at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly. We’ve already had so many fantastic, thoughtful responses to the evening, we thought we’d share a few of our favourites with you, the faithful blogreader... May 08, 2013

With the help of Wise Productions and the team at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, we put classical music back in the spotlight last night at the launch of The Recitalists - a roster of young, exciting musicians for events. The launch aimed to show off the musicians with no gimmicks or distractions, instead giving guests a chance to focus on the raw power and immediacy of the music. April 29, 2013

Having recently revamped their suppliers list for corporate events, Banqueting House gave the events industry a chance to see those suppliers in action with a dazzling showcase that featured a host of new and exciting ideas. And wouldn’t you know it, among those new and exciting ideas were a handful of our favourite new acts... Hot on the heels of our blog post about Combining Entertainment Ideas for events, we were at it again with our main act for the night. The brilliant AcroFelipe took to the stage accompanied on Cello and Violin by the Balanas duo… Read More

Summer BBQ Entertainment at No.4 Hamilton Place

April 25, 2013

Despite the fact that it’s almost May, the event industry has only recently plucked up the courage to step out onto the roof terrace, slip off the knitwear and throw an honest-to-goodness Summer Garden Party without fear of being swept off by some bitter arctic breeze.  This week, it was caterers Dish who took full advantage of the sunshine for an outdoor event at No.4 Hamilton Place. Swedish Head Chef Magnus Karlsson designed a BBQ menu that featured pepper crusted fillet of beef with smoked garlic aioli, and crayfish tails with dill and fennel butter and canapés… Read More

Introducing The Recitalists

April 22, 2013

Sternberg Clarke is putting Classical Music back in the spotlight... We’ve been booking classical acts at events for years, but generally these performers are used as background music. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but we think classical music can be something a little more engaging than the background noise at a dinner or drinks reception. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce an exciting new entertainment concept that we’re hoping will change the way people think about classical music at events.   The Recitalists is a collection of the UK’s most exciting young classical… Read More

Top 5: Combined Acts

April 17, 2013

You know you can book more than one act at once at a corporate event, right? Sure you do. We might be a little biased, but we’re generally of the opinion that a few well chosen acts can make an event, especially if they work well together. But matching acts together is a bit of an art and definitely not something you should try at home. Having said that, kind-hearted entertainment folk we are, we’ve decided to devote today’s blog post to acts that work well together – that’s why we’re officering up our Top 5… Read More

Top 5: Ice Breaking Entertainment Tips

April 10, 2013

Wonderful as the world of events is, it’s not always fun to be faced with a room full of people you either don’t know that well or don’t know at all. In these situations, a good event planner is always able to create a reason for people to start talking and entertainment can be a great way of facilitating that. The right act, deployed at the right time can make all the difference at a corporate event. But how? How? How do you do it? It’s at times like these you wish you could pop on… Read More

Audition Round Up: Jazz and Magic

April 05, 2013

With everyone suitably recharged after a brief Easter Break, we hit the ground running with auditions last week thanks to two great Jazz Bands who offered their own, differing takes on background music for events. As if that weren’t enough, we were also introduced to an exciting new street magician who, while not offering another take on background music for corporate events, did do some magic. Read on for more... The Hassall Jazz Trio opted not to introduce themselves with talk of being a Hassall free alternative to other Jazz ensembles on the market, instead letting… Read More
