Once an entertainment agency blog has covered the usual topics like Summer Entertainment or Tribute Acts or Teambuilding Ideas, then moved on to the quirkier blog topics like Top 5 Speakers on Margaret Thatcher and Top 5 Saxophone Facts – what’s usually left are nebulous terms like ‘Street’ or ‘Urban’ entertainment. So here’s a blog about Street Entertainment... What do we mean by Street entertainment? Acts with Street in their name? Booth Street West? Watling Street? Silk Street? Acts that perform on streets? Like jugglers? Or mimes? No. We mean ‘street’ like baggy pants and baseball caps… Read More

The recently refurbished Cafe Royal Hotel played host to a line-up of show-stopping acts for a recent corporate event with destination management company Allied PRA. The event featured everything from circus to cabaret to vintage dance with a few innovative collaborations thrown in for good measure. Guests were greeted in the opulent Pompadour Suite by our costumed contact juggler and stilt walker as well as a pair of our vintage cigarette girls who handed out raffle tickets in eye catching pink costumes. Music in the reception came courtesy of jazz vocalist Jess Berry who was ably… Read More

Montagues and Capulets, Sharks and Jets, Wigan and St Helens... there are some rivalries that can only be settled with violent conflict. Others, like the one between the House of Lords and the House of Commons, can be settled with a relatively friendly Tug of War, as we discovered this week when the Blind Tigers provided background music for a festival of rope burn and parliamentary grunting in College Garden. The event, organised by Macmillan Cancer Support, is now in its 26th year and pits Lords and MPs ‘gainst one another in the grounds of Westminster… Read More

If you’re planning a wedding and looking for inspiration, you should really be checking in on our recently launched website MakeTheirDay.co.uk. Our fictitious couple Garry and Sarah kicked off their wedding journey with a visit to One Marylebone where their wedding will take place on the 24th of September. With a little guidance from Private Events Manager Alicia, the couple talk through some of the options available for their wedding. There’s also a Q&A video with Alicia that sheds a little light on what it’s like to work on high profile weddings at the historic venue.… Read More

We might bang on about Quintessentially English This and Traditionally British that from time to time, but that shouldn’t detract from the fact that here at Sternberg Clarke, we’re experts in all kinds of world music. The 20s have roared back into fashion thanks to the recent release of Baz Luhnmann’s glitzy retelling of The Great Gatsby. Never ones to miss out on a trend, we offered up our ideas for Great Gatsby Themed Entertainment last week and then wouldn’t you know it, one of them featured in a Gatsby themed event shortly thereafter. Vintage Jazz enthusiasts and bona fide dreamboats The Blind Tigers took to the stage at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly to entertain guests before their screening of the star studded F. Scott Fitzgerald adaptation. The venue’s art deco interior and 200… Read More

Having provided entertainment at weddings and civil ceremonies for nearly 20 years, we like to think we know a thing or two about wedding entertainment – but what about the rest of the wedding? Much as we’d like to offer help on the other parts, we’re not experts on catering or floristry or photography... but we know some people who are. So we’ve teamed up with some of the wedding industry’s best suppliers to create MakeTheirDay.co.uk a website that follows a fictional couple (Garry and Sarah) as they plan their wedding. We’ll be sharing videos of… Read More

An increasingly large part of what we do here at Sternberg Clarke is provide after dinner speakers for events. By working closely with our clients - discussing the event and their requirements - we’re able to suggest suitable speakers for the evening, ranging from celebrities to experts in a certain field. For a recent event at The British Museum, we booked broadcaster and journalist Hardeep Singh Kohli to speak on the subject of equality. Hardeep’s years of experience in television radio and print made him a relaxed and engaging presence on stage. . The warmth and… Read More

Not all entertainment comes pre-packaged and at Sternberg Clarke we pride ourselves in combining acts to create something new and unusual. Take, for instance, this event at Syon House where we teamed a troupe of freerunners with electric violinist, Gita, to create a breathtaking outdoor show. If we’re being completely honest – it wasn’t a completely new idea; we’d created a similar hybrid act for a corporate event at the Saatchi Gallery but the change in venue and performance space gave the concept new life. Guests were transfixed as our freerunners bounded and somersaulted between podiums… Read More

A veritable who’s who of the event industry descended on Kensington Palace (during an uncharacteristic break in this week’s gloomy weather) to enjoy a summer garden party showcasing some of London’s best suppliers. Featuring an irresistible array of canapés from caterers The Admirable Crichton, expert production from Wise and eye catching seasonal floral displays from Simon Lycett – the event gave guests a glimpse of what to expect for events at Kensington Palace over the summer. The musical backdrop for the evening came courtesy of the increasingly popular Watling Street Band, whose off-kilter pop covers (featuring… Read More
